Clay's New "Hockey" Job

About a month ago, Clay was browsing on monster.ca and found a posting for a job as "Head of Hockey Development" at Burnaby 8 Rinks. Everything they were asking for the job description, he has: level 3 hockey coach, management experience, hockey experience such as playing and coaching, etc. He decided to apply, not knowing what to expect. Well, two weeks later, he had resigned from his job at the gym and was making the long trek into Burnaby. On a good day, it takes him about an hour and fifteen minutes....on a bad day well... any amount of time after that. Luckily, the longest so far is 2 hours (but it is still summer time!). Anyway, he is loving his job...finally something that he is qualified to do! He can play hockey every day if he wants to, but he still has work to do in the office. Every day is different, so it keeps him on his toes. At Burnaby 8 Rinks, there is the exact replica of the Canucks dressing room from GM Place (because this is where they practice!), so this is where the boys are in the photos below. I am so happy for and proud of Clay that he has gotten this opportunity.

The Telus World of Science

In the past month, we have driven to Vancouver at least 6 times! EVERYTIME Brayden asks if we can go to Science World. Finally we had time on holiday Monday, before Clay started his new job. B had crazy amounts of fun in the mirrors, dancing in front of the screens to see different shadows, exploring gross bodily functions, and observing different insects. All in all we had a fun time. I think mom and dad and Rylan were more tired than B.

101 Things to Do With a Big Tupperware Box!

Who needs toys?
Peek...
-A - BOO!

Rylan--Almost 9 months! WOW!

Rylan is so curious now...he wants you to pick him up so he can touch whatever is in his reach. He tries to pull himself up on his higher toys and the coffee table and is sitting sturdily --rarely falling over. He gets bored quite quickly, so we have to move him from his car-saucer to playing with toys on the floor to whatever keeps him occupied (hence the Aero bar and the Tupperware cupboard). He loves trucks and cars and anything that moves (or that fits in his mouth!) He just tried chicken on monday and LOVES it! He is quite the particular eater...sometimes when it is too chunky or he doesn't like the texture he will spray it out with his tongue. He also dances to music! What a guy...still happy!

B lovin the camera attention!

Play Ball!

For Brayden's 3 1/2 birthday, he got a baseball glove and ball. Clay was teaching him how to throw and catch. Funny--watch the progression of events!

Here's B throwing a ball.

Clay passing it to him.

Not wanting the ball to hit him.Trying to catch the ball...but still not wanting the ball to hit him!
Actually catching the ball in his mit! Way to go!
Rylan looking on...he loves to sit on the deck and hit the watering can around on the porch.

Vancouver Trekking!

Just so you know, I have been into Vancouver 4 times in the past 6 days. Brayden has had 3 auditions for commercials and 2 call backs. Hopefully after all this driving he will get something to pay the $20 per time in gas to get there and back...and all the time driving too! It has been cool though, to visit Clay at his new "hockey job", as B calls it, at Burnaby 8 Rinks. B loves to look at all the figure skaters and hockey players...he runs from rink to rink so excited! Anyway, we have more pics and will post soon! Thanks for your patience!

Sidewalk Letters

B wanted to draw with the sidewalk chalk...so what did I think he would draw? ... A picture...no...he wrote the alphabet! ...son of a teacher...what can I say? :)

Grandma and Opa Visit! Fun Times!

Howdy Neighbour!

In April, new neighbours moved in! Megan loves to pretend. I was taking photos of them relaxing on the front lawn on their makeshift "beach". Megan was surfing on her skateboard. She sure loves summer fun!

Toy Corner

To keep the toy coverage of the living room to a minimum, we created a toy corner for Ry. He sits and plays with his toys quite contently. Sometimes he likes to push his toys far out of his reach so we find him flat on his back or nose into the carpet. What fun!

BMX Jumper?

Brayden has just learned or is learning how to ride his new bike. We were in the lane at the neighbour's house (Hayden and Phoenix) and they have built small jumps. He had to make a run for it and made it over a few times, fell over a few times and crashed as well. For just starting to ride a bike, I am so impressed at his courage! Look at the determination on his face! Way to go B! (Typical Boy!;)

The Crate

I wanted to make sure that Ry didn't fall over one day so I stuck him in this crate. He looked so cute, I just had to carry him downstairs to the studio and shoot a few shots.

Silly!

B and I were making his pirate ship birthday cake when he discovered how his silly face looked in the mixer. (Kinda like the iphoto tricks!)
