Clay's New "Hockey" Job

About a month ago, Clay was browsing on monster.ca and found a posting for a job as "Head of Hockey Development" at Burnaby 8 Rinks. Everything they were asking for the job description, he has: level 3 hockey coach, management experience, hockey experience such as playing and coaching, etc. He decided to apply, not knowing what to expect. Well, two weeks later, he had resigned from his job at the gym and was making the long trek into Burnaby. On a good day, it takes him about an hour and fifteen minutes....on a bad day well... any amount of time after that. Luckily, the longest so far is 2 hours (but it is still summer time!). Anyway, he is loving his job...finally something that he is qualified to do! He can play hockey every day if he wants to, but he still has work to do in the office. Every day is different, so it keeps him on his toes. At Burnaby 8 Rinks, there is the exact replica of the Canucks dressing room from GM Place (because this is where they practice!), so this is where the boys are in the photos below. I am so happy for and proud of Clay that he has gotten this opportunity.

  1. that's sounds wonderful, would you consider a move? I remember the days of the long commute the same as Clay's almost 1hr on a good day. I did that for a year and half before we moved to Langley. I am so glad that we did move, although I did develop an affection for New 1130 traffic reports, shortcut routes, and books on tape. Now Dave and I live almost halfway between our jobs it takes Dave 30 minutes and me 35 minutes going the opposite direction. What would be halfway between Abbotsford and Burnaby? Maybe Langley/Surrey :)

  2. We decided not to move so one of us is close to the kids if there is an emergency. I have a 7 minute commute ...so if something were to happen, I could be there at a moments notice. We lOVE where we live! (Plus Langley is a little to pricey for us!)
