Locks of Love

The time has come to cut my hair! I had grown it for a year and finally had 10 inches--the minimum to donate to Locks of Love! I decided to go with them because they take coloured hair, just not bleached. I decided to raise some money for a former student of Fraser who lost her struggle with Cancer 6 months before, so we charged admission to get into the gym. We raised about $300 towards her memory.
So, a year ago, Selenah shaved her head for her brother. I said that I would cut my hair too as soon as I had 10 inches, and I wanted her to help! See here.
This is her mom:
Three other students cut their hair as well:
I love having short hair! Thanks Shelley for coming to school to cut hair and for doing such a great job on my new style!

Photos of Photos

While my cousin was here, I asked him to come on a grad shoot with me! Here are some photos he took of me taking photos:

WOW!

I don't know how many of you know, but I am an avid blog follower.  My totals on bloglines are at a staggering 121 feeds.  I am learning so much about how to be a better photographer, but also what people are going through in their lives.  It feels like I am a part of their lives--like I know them personally (some I do and I enjoy catching up).  Recently, one of the blogs I follow, posted some terrible news.  Her husband has brain cancer.  Unbelievable.  Inconceivable.  YET, both of them have the faith that could move mountains.  Look what he writes today awaiting his biopsy results:

"But this is what I actually wanted to tell you. I have a gut feeling you've got something going on in your life right now and you do not have complete faith that God can (or will) keep His promises to you. Maybe you doubt that God can take care of you when it comes to finding a new job, dealing with your current job, fixing your marriage, managing your kids, finishing school, paying bills, etc... I really don't know what that thing is, but I know that you know.

It will be very easy for you to remain safe and say "I trust that God is in complete control of this situation". To be honest, the majority of my life has been summarized by this statement.  And while I believe this is still a super-legit thing to say to God, I am challenging you to take this one step further. I challenge you to ask for faith that moves God, not only to 'be in control', but to act on your behalf.

Reminds me of a simple verse that we often like to pretend is difficult: "Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." - Hebrews 11:1.

If you have trouble with it, just read it like you are 12 years old (child-like faith). If you don't get it, maybe pretend you're 8 and try again. And again.

I want you to be SURE of what you hope for. I want you to be CERTAIN of what you do not see. For once, I want you to JUMP and rely on God to move and come through on your behalf.

Lord knows I'm in mid-air right now. "

All I can say is WOW!  No anger, just pure faith.  WOW!

The Renos

This is what we took on while the boys were at Science World. We were just planning on taking out the carpet, but it turned into, let's lay the floor today! We got half of the living room done on Saturday and finished it up on Sunday. The kitchen will wait until we have another free weekend. Because we got such a variety of colours, textures and grains in our floor, I laid it out so it would look right and clay nailed it. It was tricky because some boxes had mostly light pieces and some had dark and we wanted a mix. I love the finished product! ( I will post more on the once "fireplace", now entertainment wall, when it is completely finished!)

We decided to write our names underneath the floor on the plywood.

The finished product!

Outdoor Music Concert at WAFMS

Every year my school puts on the final band concert in the outdoors followed by ice cream from my fav place Birchwood Dairy! The boys asked through the entire concert, "Is it done yet? Do we get ice cream now?" Even though they won't admit it, they loved the music--B's toe was tapping and Ry was shaking his bum bum to few songs.
"Cheers" to the ice cream!

Party in the Park

Every year, the community church puts on a party in the park across the street from us! It is a BIG potluck/BBQ and they have lots of fun things for the kids to do!

VIP Treatment for the Heat

Clay got the VIP treatment June 8! He was the first season ticket holder for the new Abbotsford Heat hockey team. He got a few interviews and he got a jersey. We got to pick our seats across from the bench on the blue line. Quite the excitement! See the article and video online here.
